Another fair and balanced opinion, which is laudable given that TB sells this watch. I'm a qualified former commercial diver and nobody wore such large watches,l, most didn't wear them at all. Where did the size thing come from?

Interestingly the Certina CS told me that the 14 sided ring, much like on the vintage original, does serve the purpose of keeping the bezel in place. The ring is screwed on the actual case, on top of the bezel and sort of acts as a stopper and in doing so makes it a captive bezel, kind of like with Sinn dive watches. It doesn’t hold the crystal in place anymore though as the modern methods of attaching a crystal to a case are superior. So it not only is a nod to history and looks cool, it actually serves a purpose. Certina basically created the perfect actual diving watch for under 1k in my eyes.

I don't get it, I love the Navy Seals watch and other divers but who really needs a big brick to bang around? I need a readable dial that will let me check the pulse of a trauma victim at 4 am in the rain. either one does that but the the size of the Marathon, while high, is just a little less of a big heavy dangly on the wrist like some of the big diving watches are. Small'?? check out the size of full size gold watches for men from the 50's. half the size. and it's about the size of a more modern watch from the 60's. Big doesn't mean better and reasonable size doesn't mean feminine.

Timex still has a few of these. After applying the discount, I paid $280 for one.

I really detest the word "wearable" when it comes to describing wrist watches. Some of us have larger wrists, and ladies-sized watches aren't what I'd consider "wearable". 37mm diameter and 15.5mm thickness is not a desirable ratio by any rational standards.

Looks like a cheap citizen watch

The dial on these watches is spectacular in sunlight, specially the blue and the charcoal version. This watch has it all, silicon balance, COSC, great power reserve and 100m water resistance, which was added a few years ago. To me this is what the 14000 series Rolex AirKing watches used to be in the past, high quality, accurate, good looking and sturdy while appropriate in all circumstances.
